Protecting and promoting high standards in the practice of English Maritime Law
Clyde & Co LLP is a leading international shipping, insurance, commodities, energy, trade and transportation firm with a dedicated Marine Casualty Department specialising in the handling of cases arising out of marine casualties. The Department handles principally collision, salvage and General Average cases together with associated problems involving oil pollution liabilities, transhipment, pilotage, wreck removal and deep sea recovery projects, charter party and cargo/hull/P&I insurance issues.
The firm's marine casualty lawyers have considerable litigation experience both in the High Court in London and also in many overseas jurisdictions, as well as being involved in a high proportion of the Lloyd's Open Form Salvage Arbitrations dealt with in London each year. The Marine Casualty Department has an experienced staff consisting of solicitors and other legally qualified casehandlers as well as 3 Master Mariners, 2 of whom are currently based in the UK and one in Singapore. We are therefore well placed to advise both on the legal and technical aspects of marine casualties.
The international nature of our work is enhanced by our offices in Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and Latin America and also by our comprehensive network of correspondent lawyers throughout the world.
